What are the eligibility criteria of opening securities account through Internet Banking?
Online securities account opening service is only applicable to personal accounts who register Personal Internet Banking service and maintain personal HKD current saving or checking account, and also register email address and mailing address in English. In other words, this service is not applicable to joint accounts and corporate accounts.
How to open securities account through Internet Banking?
Simple steps for account opening as follows:
- Login Personal Internet Banking
- Select "Investment Service"
- Select "Securities Account Service" and Click "Securities Account Opening"
- Follow the instructions to open securities account
- After completing the application progress, the webpage will show "Application Received" and provide you with a reference number.
How long does it take to activate my securities account after submitting my application?
For application successfully received before 6pm on a trade day, securities account shall be opened on the same day. For application received after 6pm on a trade day, or during weekend and holidays, securities account shall be opened on the next trade day. You can place orders through our Internet stock trading system once the securities account has been opened
How can I perform my first login to Internet / Mobile Stock Trading Service after opening a securities account?
You can login to Personal Internet Banking to check your securities account number, and please use the securities account number and your password of Personal Internet Banking to login Internet / Mobile Stock Trading.
Can I place order via other trading channel after opening securities account through Internet Banking?
You can place orders to trade Hong Kong stocks and Shanghai A-shares through our Internet / Mobile stock trading system and counters. If you wish to trade via phone-in trading channel, please visit one of our branches to apply for issuance of your phone-in PIN. As transactions of Shanghai A-shares are settled in Renminbi (RMB), you need to register your RMB account as the designated foreign currency account of securities account for A-shares trading.
