How to present an e-Cheque through the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1?

Can I present e-Cheque issued in HKD, USD and RMB through the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1?
You can present e-Cheque issued in HKD, USD and RMB to the Bank's accounts with the same currency through the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service” 1.
Can I deposit e-Cashier's Order through the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1?
Yes. You can deposit both e-Cheque and e-Cashier Order through the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1.
Can I present e-Cheque to third party bank account?
Yes. You may register your own name or third party accounts for e-Cheque presentment.
After I confirmed the e-Cheque presentment, can I modify or cancel the instruction?
It cannot be modified or cancelled once the e-Cheque has been presented. Please verify and ensure correctness of information before the confirmation of the e-Cheque presentment.
What is the cut-off time of e-Cheque presentment?
The cut-off time of e-Cheque presentment is 5:30pm Mondays to Fridays (except public holiday). The e-Cheques deposited after the cut-off time or on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays will be processed on the next clearing day.
Can I still use the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1 under adverse weather conditions?
Yes. The “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1 is not affected by adverse weather conditions (e.g. the hoisting of typhoon signal no. 8 or black rainstorm) and you may still present e-Cheques as usual. However, the processing of e-Cheques may be affected or delayed.
What will happen if I present the same e-Cheque more than once through the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1?
Once the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1 accepts an e-Cheque, the subsequent presentment of the same e-Cheque will be treated as duplicate and rejected by the system (it will display "duplicate presentment" and the previous presentment date and the name of the payee bank), unless it is rejected by the payee bank or returned by the payer bank for the specified reasons which re-presentation is allowed.
Can I present an e-Cheque in formats other than PDF through the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1?
No, the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1 accepts e-Cheques in PDF format only. Also, scanned copy of an e-Cheque is also not acceptable.
Can I present a post-dated cheque through the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1?
No, posted dated e-Cheque is not accepted by the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1. You may present the e-Cheque later again within 6 months from the cheque date.
Is there an expiry date for presenting an e-Cheque through the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1?
You can only present an e-Cheque within 6 months from the cheque date.
My registered bank account is not displayed for selection during presentment, what should I do?
Web Portal
You can check the status of the bank account under "Bank Accounts". If the status is invalid, please correct the bank account information and the bank account will be displayed for your selection.
 
Mobile Application
You can check the status of the bank account under "User Profile > Bank Account Maintenance".
If the bank account is shown in the Invalidated Account folder, please correct the bank account information and the bank account will be displayed for your selection.
What should I do if I discover that the payee name shown on the e-Cheque is incorrect?
The presented e-Cheque with incorrect payee name is likely to be rejected by the Bank or payee bank. Please contact the payer to reissue another e-Cheque again.
How to check the status of a presented e-Cheque? How do I know if the presented e-Cheque has been rejected or returned?
You can check the status of presented e-Cheques via “Presentment Enquiry” after logon to the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1. Also, an email notification will be sent to the registered email address if the e-Cheque presentment has been rejected / returned / cancelled. How long of my presentment records can I view through the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1?
You can enquire the presentment records (including status, presentment reference, deposit account, payee, etc) of the previous 3 months through the “e-Cheque Drop Box Service”1.
The status of my presented e-Cheque is “Cleared”, does that means fund have been deposited into my bank account?
For e-Cheques deposited between Mondays to Fridays, funds will be available after 3pm of the next clearing day. For details, please click here to view the fund available time of e-Cheque. Besides, you can check the transaction history and account balance.

1. The "e-Cheque Drop Box Service" is provided by the Hong Kong Interbank Clearing Limited and access can be made and access can be made via http://www.echeque.hkicl.com.hk or "e-Cheque Drop Box Service" mobile application.
