FAQs about the CIB Security Device
What is a Security Device?
A Security Device is any smartcard, token, electronic device, hardware or any other equipment used for generating a Security Code. The Bank now offers a Security Device with PIN Lock feature to Corporate Banking Customers.

 
What is a Security Code?
A Security Code is a one-time password which is generated by a Security Device for verifying a user’s online identity and authenticating designated online transactions (e.g. fund transfers to non-registered accounts). Each Security Code is only valid for a short time interval.
What are the functionalities of the Security Device for Corporate Internet Banking?
The Security Device for Corporate Internet Banking has a PIN Lock feature. It can generate Security Code and perform Transaction Signing to authenticate designated online transactions.
Why do I need a Security Device?
A Security Device can enhance the security of online transactions and protect you against possible online frauds while managing personal finance online. It is a reliable tool to verify customer’s identity and authenticate designated online transactions (e.g. fund transfers to non-registered accounts).
In addition, the Bank will continue to provide a wider range of online services and functions. With a Security Device, you can enjoy full access to Internet Banking services.
How to apply for a Security Device?
Existing Corporate Internet Banking Customers (Administrators / Authorizers) can choose to login to Corporate Internet Banking# OR visit any of our branches to apply for a Security Device.
Do I need to pay for a Security Device for Corporate Internet Banking?
The Security Device for Corporate Internet Banking is free of charge.
What should I do after receiving a Security Device?
Upon receipt of your Security Device, you are recommended to activate it via Corporate Internet Banking immediately or within 90 days from the issue date of the letter enclosed with your Security Device.

Please follow the steps below to activate your Security Device:
 
1. Login to Corporate Internet Banking
2. Select "Setting" >"Security Authentication" > "Activate Security Device"
What is Transaction Signing?
Transaction Signing is a more sophisticated authentication process. You are required to key in transaction-specific information (e.g. beneficiary account number, bill account number etc.) to your Security Device to generate a unique Security Code in order to enjoy a greater protection for your online transactions.
What transaction-specific information do I need to enter into my Security Device to generate Security Code when I want to authenticate designated online transactions?
To authenticate designated online transactions, please follow the on-screen instructions shown on the Corporate Internet Banking page to enter the correct transaction-specific information (e.g. beneficiary account number, bill account number etc.) into your Security Device and generate a Security Code.
What should I do if the Security Code I have entered when authenticating designated online transaction is not accepted?
Your Security Code entered may be rejected due to one of the following reasons:
 
1. You may have entered an invalid Security Code (including the entered Security Code not match with the one displayed on your Security Device or entered inaccurate transaction-specific information into your Security Device).
2. Each Security Code is only valid for a short time interval. The time permitted for entry of the Security Code entered may be expired.

Please follow the on-screen instructions to regenerate a valid Security Code.
If the Security Code is still not being accepted, please contact our Customer Service Hotline on 2818 0282.
What should I do if my Security Device is damaged?
Please visit any of our branches to arrange for a replacement. The new Security Device will be sent to your company's registered correspondence address of account statement according to the Bank's record.
What should I do if my Security Device is lost or being stolen?
Please report the loss of your Security Device by logging in to Corporate Internet Banking or call our Customer Service Hotline at 2818 0282 immediately, and visit any of our branches for replacement.
Can the same Security Device be shared amongst different Corporate Internet Banking Customers?
A dedicated Security Device will be assigned to your relevant Internet Banking Account. After successful activation of your Security Device, the Security Device will become your own identity device and can only be used for your associated Internet Banking Account. In other words, you are not allowed to use others' Security Devices for your Internet Banking Accounts.
What should I do if "bAtt" message is displayed on the Security Device?
"bAtt" will be displayed on the screen when the battery of your Security Device is running low. The battery of Security Device normally lasts for 3 to 5 years, depending on the frequency of your usage.
Please visit any of our branches to arrange for a free replacement.
Please also note that the battery of the Security Device cannot be replaced, any attempts to remove the components of the Security Device may cause malfunction of the Device.
How do I set up Security Device PIN?
Please follow the steps below to set up the PIN before using the Security Device for the first time. You are required to enter this PIN to unlock the Security Device before each usage.
 
1. Press for  2 seconds to power on the Security Device
2. When "NEW PIN" is displayed, enter 4 to 6 digits at your choice as a new PIN, then press
3. "PIN CONF" will be displayed, please re-enter the new PIN to confirm
4. "SCB" and "NEW PIN CONF" will be displayed upon successful PIN setup
How do I change Security Device PIN?
Please follow the steps below:
 
1. After powering on the Device with your existing PIN, press  and hold for 2 seconds
2. When "NEW PIN" is displayed, enter 4 to 6 digits at your choice as a new PIN, then press
3. "PIN CONF" will be displayed, please re-enter the new PIN to confirm
4. "SCB" and "NEW PIN CONF" will be displayed upon successful PIN setup
What should I do if I forget my Security Device PIN or I have inputted my Security Device PIN incorrectly for 5 consecutive times that my Security Device is locked?
Please follow the steps below to reset the PIN online:
 
1. Log in to Corporate Internet Banking, select "Setting" >"Security Authentication"
2. Follow the on-screen instructions to reset the PIN
